SMEs in Kenya face the same threats as larger firms—phishing, stolen passwords, ransomware, and misconfigured cloud servers—without a full-time security team. A practical programme focuses on high-impact controls, not expensive theatre.

Start with these five areas

  1. Access control — unique accounts, least privilege, no shared admin passwords on production.
  2. Backups — automated, encrypted where appropriate, restore tested at least quarterly.
  3. Updates — OS, frameworks and plugins patched on a schedule.
  4. HTTPS everywhere — TLS on public sites, APIs and admin panels.
  5. Monitoring — logs for admin actions, failed logins, and payment callbacks.

Applications you build or buy

Insist on hashed passwords, CSRF protection on forms, parameterized database queries, and role-based permissions. For M-Pesa and customer data, align retention and consent with the Kenya Data Protection Act and your privacy policy.

We do not claim any system is “100% secure.” We implement proportionate engineering and optional security assessments before and after go-live.
